30 Bananas a Day!

So I've been sleeping on the floor for about a year now, with no issues I can really think of. I was inspired after seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger's character do it in the movie Twins.

I've noticed it's really only comfortable if I sleep on my back--or else I end up cutting off circulation in one of my arms, but I've heard sleeping on your back is optimal.

I do! For 2 year now!  :) And I thought I was the only one. I used to wake up with achy lower back all the time, and sleeping on the floor totally took care of that.  And recently I ditched the pillow too, as I noticed I would wake up with a stiff neck.  Yes, sleeping on a hard surface and on the back is the optimal thing to do.  So many back issues arise from the mattresses people sleep on.  Additional benefit of sleeping on back is less unnecessary wrinkles.   People tend to squish their face in the pillow the same way year after year, causing wrinkles over the time, which can be easily avoided. When you sleep on the back all your organs are resting in the perfect alignment too.

I sleep on the floor as well.  I got into it around 7 years ago, as it was recommended during yoga teacher training.  Over the years I have slept in beds sometimes, but I always go back to the floor.  I can try to sleep in a bed, but after awhile I just don't want to anymore.  I can sleep anyway without having any issues...it doesn't matter how I sleep.

Sleeping on your stomach seems uncomfortable on a floor, because you end up putting weight on your neck and face.

I bet if you tried out sleeping on the floor, and got really tired before you went to bed, you would learn (maybe with some frustration) to sleep on your back comfortably. And I sleep on a sleeping bag, so not totally on the floor, although I may ditch the sleeping bag eventually.

I have for long stretches in the past when I suffered from endless bronchitis episodes.  The firm floor gives your rib cage some "purchase," allowing coughs to be more effective and reduced in frequency. At the time i had a basement apartment, and I liked the idea of being so close to the earth on the floor.

I sleep on the floor as of a few weeks ago. A friend of mine brought up the fact that I'd been sleeping on mess of highly conductive metal springs, and I was like 'dude'. I love it, it's really comfy to me and discourages awkward positioning. I've always slept on my right side and known that it's not good to keep my spine curved to the side for such an extended period every day, never thinking to just sleep on a hard surface!

Totally! All the time. We even have one of those fancy sleep number beds, but give me a pillow and a blanket and I can sleep anywhere. Heck I don't even need those if I'm really tired!

I often sleep on my side, but do shift around during the night as an arm or leg gets tingly and usually end up on my back.

I have no trouble sleeping on the ground when im camping out, but i've always had a bed so have never ventured into the realm of floor sleeping... hmmm.... maybe i can sell my bed and buy durian ;)

Oooo right!

I sleep on the floor for many years now (not sure when it was that I threw out the bed). Currently I have a thin camping mattress and several blankets under me, so the sleeping surface is not really hard, but it is totally flat. I did sleep for many years in just a sleeping bag before that, but after my 21 day water fast I started using that thin mattress and got used to it :)

I am not sure what beds can really be good for. I think that they are too limiting (in space) for anything actually.

typical

Haha you're tempted too durifran! :D

Yeah I sleep on the floor. From the beginning I felt good doing it. No discomfort or anything like that.
