30 Bananas a Day!

If so I've started a support group - http://arawconnection.ning.com/group/girlgoneraw
& I feel very strongly about this so I started another community based on empowering females
http://girlgoneraw.ning.com/

I have posted this thread in the 'Venting forum' as I know it will 'ruffle' some feathers...
Some may say.."oh no another makeup thread..." but if I learn that a particular message will help save the planet, animals & my health then I will spread the word without hesitation.

Take time to read & sign this petition...

To: All Women of the Earth/Other makeup or cosmetic users
The use of makeup or cosmetics at social outings is seen as an inappropriate waste of time and money, in addition to serving as a telltale sign to others that you require external aids in order to look beautiful.

Both men and women alike all over the world believe this, and now is the time for you to decide your allegiance.

Makeup or cosmetics, is defined by dictionary.com as "A preparation, such as powder or a skin cream, designed to beautify the body by direct application."

We believe the above thesis statement is true for the following reasons:

Makeup/Cosmetics are an excessive and completely unnecessary precaution taken to ensure that a person's outward appearance is pleasing to others.
Time, money, and resources used on taking the precautions stated above are simply used for superficial means, and therefore are simply wasted.
Additionally, using such items detracts from the natural beauty of the human body. Instead of being ourselves, we become manufactured dolls.

By using such items, you support the pseudo-standard of beauty that the mass media and advertising campaigns put out into the general public. This standard is completely rubbish, as it is unreasonable due to the fact that often times models are pictured in a way that is impossible for the human body to obtain naturally, and in order to obtain it in the first place, you would require various expensive cosmetic aids.

The way the majority of makeup/cosmetics is manufactured does not nearly justify the price that is charged for it. For example, things such as cover-up powders are simply just a mixture of chemicals and dyes.
Going along with the point stated above, "The ingredients of modern cosmetics may also surprise those who use them: lipstick, for example, can contain fish scales -- or, rather, the "shimmery" substance of fish scales called "pearl essence". Pearl essence is obtained primarily from herring and is one of many by-products of large-scale commercial fish processing. The red color of many lipsticks is from the dye carmine, made from the crushed bodies of the cochineal insect," according to www.wikipedia.org.

Makeup is makeup, regardless of the amount you use. Please, sign this petition and pledge your loyalty against using makeup. Men, take this time to let your significant other know that you're against them being someone they're not. Women, join together and rebel against the strict social beauty expectations, simply be yourself, that is all you need to be.

Sincerely,

http://www.petitiononline.com/antiMaku/petition.html

greetings liza!

i think you are misinterpreting marte's words.

she is quite precise with her comments referring to herself specifically
"I don't, and I never really did ..."

her's is clearly an "I" statement. not a "thou shalt" statement.

while she is critical of certain practises (and substantiates her viewpoint quite validly), it is incorrect to conclude that she is being condescending towards other women.

furthermore, it is completely appropriate for her to disapprove (ie the bs bit) of existing status quo (make-up, societal attitudes towards women etc) when she provides good reason to do so especially since this status quo can very well effect her.

make-up is likely a good commodity between people - regardless of who chooses or doesn't choose to wear it (as long as it is vegan, as you emphasize previously in the thread). ;)

in friendship,
prad

I like to wear lipstick sometimes. Sorry, Freelee! I think it's a personal choice, like coloring your hair or getting implants etc., but easier and more temporary (I haven't done either of those). I may put some henna in my hair one day too...

I have never worn lipstick or foundation but for the past five or six years I have worn cruelty-free organic natural mascara and until I started 80/10/10 I used organic cruelty-free blusher and occasionally powder too. There were no man-made chemicals in any of those products. I just still feel naked without mascara. I am 46 and have been wearing mascara since I was 12 years old. At least now I can venture to a shop or out for a walk without my mascara but that is only a recent development.

I have not used commercial deodorant or anti-perspirant for about five or six years. I fact I prefer to make my own toiletries now. I am appalled by the use of anti-perspirants anyway as people are just absorbing aluminium directly into their bodies. I believe that a lot of people don't know about these things, though. If I think I am going somewhere where I might sweat a lot like going dancing, I rub a bit of fair-trade coconut oil under my arms and dab on some bicarbonate of soda. It works better than anything else anyway and is very natural. As I have dry aging skin I use jojoba oil as a moisturiser day and night. My hair is very grey and I don't like it so I dye it myself with Aubrey Organics natural dark brown colour which consists of completely organic natural indigo and henna mixed into a powder. I make my own toothpaste from bicarb. of soda, peppermint oil, clove oil and tea tree oil.

I think it is very easy to condemn women for wearing make-up (especially if you have always been seen as an attractive person) but I spent many years believing I was ugly and I also had acne for many years so I feel that my mascara gave me confidence. I am just learning at this late stage of my life that I can have confidence without it but I still don't feel like "me" without it (if you know what I mean). I believe that there are a lot of very good organic cruelty-free companies out there especially in the US like Real Purity mascara and Aubrey Organics, Dr. Bronner's, etc. and no animals are tested either.

Never been a make-up wearer.
I don't think our faces need to be enhanced.
I also feel weird about putting gooky stuff on my skin.
I don't have much armpit hair to worry about it really.
If I had more, I still doubt I would do anything about it.

I personally believe that any man who cannot love me for exactly what I am- even in the morning with mussed up hair- isn't worthy of my love. That is society's problem- they can't appreciate a woman's natural beauty. And who cares whether your skin is flawless or your dress is perfect? Why can't a woman be loved for other things? What ever happened to their personality, their sense of compassion, or their kindness and understanding? Women play such an important role in life- we are mothers, caretakers, teachers, and supporters. There are so many things worthy of noting, and yet everyone is hung up on sex appeal and superficial beauty. It's disgusting.

I gave up foundation a while ago; it was too heavy, broke my face out, and made me orange. I rarely wear mascara- my eyelashes are naturally very long and most people think I am wearing it anyway. As for lipstick, I absolutely hate it. On special occasions I may wear a natural-colored lipgloss with a little shine, but most days I use chap stick. It's completely free of any chemicals and is 100% all-natural. The most I wear is powder and blush. It is a goal of mine to go without, though I have yet to be able to sneak out without my mother noticing.

One day Mother, one day.

I know its like our one goal in life is to be loved by a man, thats how we are trained by society. Sorry people there is more to focus on. Like beign sovereign,

I still like makeup though but I understand.

I wear makeup still. I am completely aware of what I'm doing to my face/skin, I'm aware of what I'm supporting and portraying. At this point I really love makeup (the way that it looks on me), so I'm not ready to detach. Also in theater shows or singing performances, I always wear even more makeup than normal (on the eyes mostly). Just gotta be honest :) I didn't see many females writing on here that they still wear makeup.

Do I want to get to a point where I don't wear makeup? Sure I do. But like I said, I'm just not ready yet.

Still proudly wearing my gunk even though I do look at myself and hear the brilliant term coined by many: "fake-up!"

Someday my friends, someday lol

Yeah, this is me, too. I just got my looks back after 7 years of obesity, so I like wearing cute clothing, and making my hair and face look great. Maybe when I'm a bit older, completely on lfrv, and ready to go completely au naturel, I'll take the plunge. But for now, I wear my bare minerals and mascara when I'm going out in public, and enjoy the way they make me look and feel.

I still wear make up. I'm not ready to give it up either. In the summer I naturally wear less (having a nice tan really helps). I think if I lived in year round warm weather then I'd probably wear a whole lot less.

My husband hates makeupand when i put it on, but i am an artist and i love it(not to be a slave to it) but I love the way i feel when i am wearing a bit to enhance(not cover up ) my features. BTW, there are times I subtley put on some make up and Michael gives me some nice compliments on my appearance and he is not sure what it is..behold, it is the make up ..b/c he uusally sees me without and doesn't really make those comments. However, i do agree that when one is on 811 for a bit they tend to glow like never before and don't need too much to get going and out the door. The face lloks more radient and takes on a beauty like nothing else!
So, whatever one chooses is ok with me.

The shelf life for dates is so long because of the low water content. Some companies do shady techniques like drying in hot rooms or spraying with water or steaming. The only way to know is to look up the company and ask them

WHAHAHAH! Well said. I actually recommend you keep it happening again, for it is rare, and needs to be common; that way, I'll be sane, from all the embellishment of disharmony. ;D

I just started eating dates and I am wondering if the dates I ate are truly raw ? I got them in the produce department of a local supermarket store from a bulk food box that said they are "fresh" Medjool Dates. From another thread ( http://www.30ban
