Just wondering if anyone else is from the scene. Did you find yourself listening to ''happy'' music once you started changing your eating habits? :P Also like to know if anyone is attending the Kinetik Fest in montreal. Please feel free to message me :)

Permalink Reply by warren maruschak on April 7, 2012 at 1:44pm Hells yes. I love industrial, punk, and metal along with many other types of music as well. To me that is happy music, especially Skinny Puppy! I have been to the kinetik festical twice before, but unfortunately will not be attending this year.
Permalink Reply by Olive Fruitvegan on April 7, 2012 at 3:57pm Skinny Puppy f*** yeah!
Permalink Reply by Olive Fruitvegan on April 7, 2012 at 3:57pm I was into that kind of stuff, also enjoyed breakcore. My fav always was and will be dark cabaret. I still like dark music a lot, but more the hopeful and sarcastic kind. What i don't enjoy so much anymore is purely melancholic music, or music that is sort of hopeless, where they become the victims, and where people indulge in problems i can not relate to anymore ('my life is so miserable because my boyfriend treats me badly bladibla').
I don't think i like happier music now though. All my organs still cringe when i hear things like happy peppy reggae or sunshine tunes (like 'something over the rainbow by that ukulele guy, oh my god it hurts really bad).
I guess i still like smart music, and smart music is statistically more often written in the minor mode, which has a dark edge to it (i worked in music analysis for a while).

Permalink Reply by Eric Darche on April 7, 2012 at 7:59pm Started listening to punk rock music at the age of 12 and never stopped
Permalink Reply by Richie Fruitbat on April 7, 2012 at 10:25pm I love old school metal ( Celtic Frost, early Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate etc) and Black metal (Epsecially Darkthrone!) but right now I'm on an a early 80's post punk kick, (Siouxie and the Banshees, Killing Joke, Early Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division etc).
Most of the music I like I find quite happy anyway, although I know others may not feel that way... It's an energy thing for me rather than just the message or lyrics.
