Permalink Reply by wataFruit on January 25, 2012 at 8:14pm The fiscal meltdown is inevitable because the military budget (I wouldn't call it defense) will not be lowered to even remotely sane levels. First our interventionist, pro-Iranian sanctions and colonization of the middle east foreign policy would have to be changed... and that's not happening, not even if Ron...

People always want to just blame the party that doesn't share their own views, and somehow think that will fix everything. The thing is we are not all the same, we all have different backgrounds, experiences, view points and beliefs. And as such what I see as best for me you may not see the same as best for you. This is how some end up in the left and some end up in the right. But none are right for all! Only for their own beliefs. This is why this system is such a huge mess, even the smallest tasks can't be solved because nobody can agree on anything.
It's not that the liberals are destroying the country and it's not that the conservatives are destroying the country either, it's the fact we are governed in a way which allows whoever is in charge to enforce things in the favor of their beliefs. A successful government will only be achieved when politics are removed from it and government only governs things in which all can agree.
Unfortunately I think we're pretty far from evolving into this, but maybe the next system will get us closer.

I think the problem you have described becomes much worse when one party or the other starts to think in terms of no compromise. Everything comes to a complete stop and nothing gets resolved. I would like to see more issues put on the ballot and resolved quickly by the voting citizens.
Permalink Reply by wataFruit on January 26, 2012 at 4:13pm I hope we both agree that we could each spend our money much more productively than politicians ever can. The answer is no government, or at least significantly less government and a purely free market system where transactions are voluntary. And you're right, we are a faaaaaaaaar ways from it.

Occupy Area 51! Here's a great interview I heard today, it's very revealing and basically throws any need to vote, or spend any time/energy on government as we know it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k7J0RWLFGo&feature=uploademail. It's long but sweet, basically gets back to Love or Fear as usual.
