30 Bananas a Day!

The video you are about to see is one of the most surprising collection of interspecies actions.

Some humans extrapolate their anthropocentric tendencies to other humans and even to other species. Therefore they think that because they are self-centered, it means that other humans are self-centered. Hence, humans first look out only for themselves.

They continue the idea with all members of any particular species look out only for themselves.

This idea is not only untrue, it is unfortunate. Many humans go to great efforts to assist not only other humans, but also members of various species. However, what may surprise you is that in the non-human world, there exist an abundance of 'good samaritans' who cross the 'barrier' and reach out to a being in need regardless of race, color, sex or species!

This video shows several examples of just such action from non-humans (and concludes with a sad example of certain humans remarkably unwilling to even help one of their own).

There is much inspiration in these not-so-random acts of kindness for as the saying goes:

"Every bond that forms between species, provides hope within our own."

Thanks Prad.

Love these types of stories and to think in Canada they are wanting to ramp up horse slaughter.  aholes.

When this female died of heart failure, all the chimpanzes came out of the forest( chimpanze rescue and preserve) to say good bye... it is really touching. ♥

Hi, Prad.  I live at the foot of a mountain and certain times of the year, I can hear the mountain lions doing their thing in the middle of the night.  It's a little scary coming home after dark sometimes.  But this video made me a little bit less afraid.  :)

well i'm glad for that amelia!

animals have the sense of justice, ethics and friendship as humans. research over the past 3 decades in cognitive ethology shows that.  here is one such source:

so as long as you meet up with the right mountain lions, you'll be fine! :D

Apparently, Hunter and Mu Shu were introduced to one another after Hunter’s owner found the baby pig injured on the side of a Kansas road. It is assumed that the piglet was bounced out of a livestock truck and suffered injuries from tumbling on the pavement.

A Devoted Single Beaver Father Does It All

Single male called Dad raises young after his mate died

when members of one's own species falls short, it's good to know that inspiration abounds in others.

I hope this touching story makes your day as it did mine. A single male beaver called "Dad" living near Martinez, California is raising his 3 children on his own. Dad's mate died after getting a bad infection and he was left to care for their three youngsters, two about 7-8 weeks old and another around 2 years of age.

The story goes as follows: "After Mom died, Dad disappeared for three days. Ms [Heidi] Perryman [president of Worth A Dam] heard the babies whining for food and comfort deep into the night. When they finally spotted dad after he was grieving, he appeared 'a little looser in the skin, a little older.' From then on, Dad was the champion of his family. Worth A Dam recorded him bringing gourmet branches to his three babies to nourish them. The group recorded Dad teaching his babies how to swim with piggyback rides around the creek and how to gather food and chomp on wood for the dam."

This is a very inspirational story that is consistent with the rapid accumulation of scientific data showing that many animals are devoted parents and that males are well able to raise young on their own.

Thanks Prad great story.

Here is one I just came across.

Two blind persons wanted to drink water at the RagiGudda temple, Bangalore.
When... they were unable to operate the tap, this mother monkey opened the tap for them, allowed them to drink water, drank some water herself and then closed the tap before leaving the scene.

Take Care,

so many opportunities to learn ... but only for those who are willing.
