Cron-o-meter says I have eaten about 5400 kCal by around 5:30pm and I haven't even eaten dinner or dinner part 2. I have always tried to eat as much food as possible, but today is the first day that I'm actually counting calories. I have eaten 1 orange, 54 halawy dates, 16 bananas and 3 cups of chopped kale. I am almost 6 feet (181 cm), about 155lbs and do think and read quite a bit and did light strength training today but had no idea that I'm consuming as many 5400 calories by lunch. At this rate I'll have eaten at least 8000 kCal's by the end of the day. Is cron-o-meter wrong? I logged halaway dates as medjool because there is no other option. I have been eating bautista dates and some of them are a little smaller than other medjools I've bought from trader joe's, but they are veryy sweet. Am I really eating as many calories as cron-o-meter is telling me?

Permalink Reply by Jon Fergus on February 7, 2012 at 11:11am I have you at almost exactly 3000 from fruit, using 25cal per date (didn't add the kale). To be at 5400 would require the dates to be at around 70cal per date (which is only accurate for medjools, which are much larger).
Now go eat dinner. ;-)
Permalink Reply by wataFruit on February 7, 2012 at 2:15pm Thanks for making me realize I'm eating less caloric rich dates. Guess I'm not a monster, only a little monster... getting there though.
Permalink Reply by wataFruit on February 7, 2012 at 2:13pm I need to get a balance. Thanks for making that apparent.
Permalink Reply by Chris P. on February 7, 2012 at 11:04am Well if you are eating enough to feel great and satisfied, you're probably doing OK. I do think you are on the high side for calories of Halawi Dates. I see them lsted at about 27 calories each, they tend to be smaller than medjools:

You can enter information from other sources into Cron-O-Meter the desktop app or the web based app for a custom food, if they don't have something in their database.
Keep on being a monster! :)
