Permalink Reply by Joni on May 2, 2012 at 8:07am Have you tried reading David Kleins books. He has one of fruit (I believe that is an e-book) that is good about that. But his one of crohns and all digestive diseases is really incredible. I thought that Megan Elizabeth had problems with Leaky Gut but I could be wrong. But David's books and look him up online. I had leaky gut back in 2004. It was horrible. One thing I have found is that it takes a bit to heal but it is worth the effort. I still though can have issues trying to eat too many greens. Blending them works better but I like a salad. Read his stuff and let me know your thoughts. I'll be praying for your daughter and friend. It's tough. But it can heal. I find fruits like mangoes, papaya and bananas etc are wonderful.
Permalink Reply by Julie S on May 2, 2012 at 10:36am I have celiac disease and was extremely ill before my diagnosis. I am nearly entirely better now.
Before diagnosis, I had severe depression, leaky gut, eczema, trouble sleeping, chronic (daily) diarrhea, occasional (weekly at least) vomiting, bruises with no causes all over my body, multiple vitamin deficiencies, and I had also developed allergies to soy, peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, and eggs. I was a total mess.
A gluten-free (although still SAD) diet helped immensely, but I still had skin problems and trouble sleeping, as well as occasional diarrhea and even vomiting. I then turned to paleo, which really didn't do much except get me off of grains and beans. I did high-raw paleo for a while, and then my skin started to get better.
As a lfrv, my skin is way better and I sleep better. If I eat cooked food, it's gluten free. I NEVER have bathroom problems anymore, which is absolutely amazing. I still cannot eat nuts, soy, or any of my other allergens, but I don't miss those foods.
Permalink Reply by Richie Fruitbat on May 4, 2012 at 2:07am Another ex celiac sufferer here!
I used to get all the common symptoms, bad (VERY) digestion, depression, joint pain, bad skin, lethargy, general sense of not wanting to live, a BMI that led many to suspect I was anorexic, random stomach pain etc etc. All my symptoms are gone now, and for most of them it was a matter of weeks to see big improvements. I still get the odd skin outbreak from time to time 1 year in, but it gets less severe every time it happens, there is still a general trend of improvement happening. I am quite confident (having tried loads and loads of alternatives) in saying the HCRV is absolutely the way to go for anyone with celiac!
