Who's up to it?
I mean cold water only, no switching!
I am starting tomorrow!
1-2 showers a day.
No soap, no shampoo, just cold water.
How cold?
As cold as it gets ;)

I win. I live in a motorhome, and it's not convenient to heat water, nor do I really need to in South Florida most of the year. Cool/cold showers ARE good for your skin. You need little to no soap (the cool/cold water causes pores to clamp closed, squishing out any gunk that the wet washcloth then wipes away. The hair is a different matter; the air is not clean, pristine air, so the hair acts as a filter, and filters out dust and dirt particles from the air. So a good shampoo is a good idea for the hair, at least in most geographical areas. The best is here. I do the "original". It's a bar of shampoo, so it's only for outside-the-box people (like us).
NOTE: Cool/Cold showers save time and water (because you won't be in there as long as with warm/hot showers).
NOTE 2: Due to time constraints, I will not be following this discussion, but can be messaged if it's important.

Dear Don ♥
Thanks a lot for posting!
Regarding the No-Poo part - this is really optional. If peeps want to spend more time in the cold shower to shampoo their hair - that's totally cool with me :)
I've been washing my hair with hot water only for about 2 years now and I feel that it's about time for me to upgrade my practice :) I ordered a custom made hat for this purpose too - for the social situations during the adjustment period :)
Also I want to see what it will do for my blood circulation in my hands and feet and also whether it will remove the dry skin issue (which is virtually nonexistent now, but gets bad in the winter). So, if I like the 30 day experiment, I will keep it up!

Wow, why have we always been told hot water to open the pores is what we need to be clean! :P
Permalink Reply by pradtf on May 25, 2012 at 8:44am cold showers should be just fine - people didn't heat up the pond or river before they took a dip.
that's an absolutely amazing cold shower before-after transformation, yuliya!!
in fiendship,
prad
Lol, Pradtf :) You made me laugh!
No, I am going to post my AFTER pic once I am through with the challenge :)
I didn't even take a 100% cold shower yet, and I feel invigorated already!

Permalink Reply by HealthySkinnyBeautiful-TashaLee on May 25, 2012 at 9:23am i LOVE (in an odd way) contrast showers. something dangerous and exciting about them, and yes, quite euphoric. hmmmm i will think about doing only cold showers...i have been rinsing off in the freezing water while laying out and after the initial shock, it feels pretty good.
i did no-poo for 3 years- water only- and my hair never was quite right (socially) so i switched to the jr liggetts that don recommends and love it.
i do struggle with shaving though...very difficult to shave my legs when they have goosebumps on them from the cold water. what do you do for that?
I guess I will just shave before the shower...
My hair looks very decent after 2 cold showers last night and this morning - lets see what happens!

Permalink Reply by dangermouse on May 26, 2012 at 10:34am I'm out :) I like my showers are as hot as I can stand them. If I'm not red and dizzy by the end of it, it wasn't hot enough ;)

Day 3 for me :) Going great so far. I am getting totally addicted. :)
Permalink Reply by Joel Moody on May 29, 2012 at 4:12am YES! I take cold showers too! I usually use soap though.
Permalink Reply by Michael Conaway on June 21, 2012 at 11:26pm I don't have the water heater hooked up in my house yet so ive been cold showering for the last 3 months everyday. I don't use soap or shampoo either. Since its so cold i only take like 60 second showers which i guess is good because that limits my exposure to tap water.
