Oh yes, oh yes, it's time once again for another meetup fruitluck here in the Valley so we can all get better acquainted in person. With the goal of keeping a generally central location, this spot right off Cactus and Highway 51 looks good. We're making it earlier this time, to take advantage of the "cooler" weather :)
You never can tell how many people will be there or if tables/cabanas will be available, but a good spot with a large shade tree is about 100 feet directly north of the children's jungle gym. For recognition, I'll have in my possession a large 2 handled blue clothes hamper basket, in which I'll stash munchies and toys. And I'll be wearing a white Nike cap. Once we're collected, if we find a more suitable spot in the park, we can claim it.
Bring a dish, bowl, platter, basket, or bushel of your favorite, entirely vegan fresh fruit, veggies or salad. Let’s allow the delicious natural flavors speak for themselves, so no additives or condiments are necessary. We’ll pretend it’s nature’s bounty just picked. With the goal of keeping things as eco-friendly as possible, please bring enough personal, reusable-if-possible utensils, plates, etc for yourself and any guests you might invite. Restrooms, basic in the extreme, are available. The bolted-down available chairs are, shall we say, firm, so if you’re partial to a comfy seat, bring that too. There’s plenty of room to romp and play, with huge grassy areas and volleyball, basketball, baseball, tennis zones nearby. Bring any sporting equipment, toys, or games (including board games) you enjoy.
The bonus: Between 7 AM-11 AM, this location boasts of the longest running farmers market in AZ. Feel free to load up prior to the fiesta. An excellent grower I’ve supported long-term is Stella of Horny Toad Farms, and a new guy on the block with killer cantaloupes is Jason of Twin Peaks Farms. Most folks buy one or two items from local vendors; I say we show em how real veg-heads and fruit-bats like to eat! :) See you there, folks!
